Part of the success of a meditation session starts with how you sit. Ideally we want to sit with the spine in a straight, neutral position. Spinal alignment is important for a number of reasons:

- It helps you to stay alert and focused on the object of your meditation

- It helps you to stay awake when the eyes are closed

- It allows energy to flow freely through the length of the spine
